My name is Mary Clanahan. I began seeing the world through artist's eyes at a very young age. I've tried drawing, painting, and sculpting but have found the most pleasure from digital art. I create digital art using several different types of computer software. Making artwork gives me great joy and I am proud of my effort. Riivo Must
Another (probably unintended) connection with the music of The Future Sound of London: their album Dead Cities has something similar on the cover.
Mary Clanahan replied:
Hi Rivo, thanks for your comments. Yes I see the similarity in my work with TFSL. I think we use the same techniques and skirt some of the same subject matter. I make digital art that is much like collage, a mishmash of lots of images combined to make one new image. The pool of free stock photos for use in art is limited, I see lots of us using the same bits and pieces. It usually endears me to them, I know what it's like to not be able to go out and get a quick shot of the Eiffel Tower but need it to complete your work. We get images we need for free or from a paid service. You can tell who is the starving artist and who is not, look for the familiar free stock images. I use very free stock, and my digital art tools are way out of date. Someday I'll have all the fancy tools and original images after I travel the world with a camera but for now, lo-fi feels right.
