Digital Art in 2013

Hi, my name is Mary Clanahan. I am a digital artist. Recently, I have been called a new media artist. Digital art is created with computer software but new media art is an umbrella term. Wiki defines- New media art is a genre that encompasses artworks created with new media technologies, including digital art, computer graphics, computer animation, virtual art, Internet art, interactive art, video games, computer robotics, and art as biotechnology. I am honored to be a digital artist and a new media artists but I have a long way to go to learn all I must to create art as biotechnology

There is a short list of things in the world of conventional art that I can do, and I do those things pretty well. I can create sculpture, paint on canvas or barn-wood or anything else you throw at me.. I have a knack for taking great photographs though I tend to credit my camera Kodak Bob.. I can cut glass into shapes, mix acrylic colors (mostly ended up with the color mauve) and draw the best monsters you've never seen. I have been making one thing or another since I was seven. Age seven was the year I found out about miracles and magic, the power of dreaming and wishing, praying and hoping. I discovered that I could survive anything and maybe even be stronger because of my survival. I've prepared my whole life for what may come, most of that preparation was done with a paint brush, a pencil, chalk, camera or a chisel.

Lately, my art has been an extension of the time I spend with my computer. Digital art is limitless and no matter what you do, the color mauve will only enter the scenario when chosen. I have enjoyed learning how to manipulate the software into art and will figure out soon how to print.

No matter what art tools I use, art has always been a big part of my personal evolution. I always have more to learn so I will be creating art for years to come. Art can be a keeping of one's experiences and resulting growth, a timeline of how life and death has bated us around. Keep in mind when viewing my art, I am human therefore not faultless. I have owned my actions without judgement, with love of self.
